This is a site where I found some good prices: http://www.itsvet.com/proizvodi/kingston/comp_comp_ram/producer/71

I'd like to buy some 2GB of ram memory.I know that when it comes to ram memory it's specifications are usually gb's and speed:533mhz,667mhz,800mhz.But what I don't understand are all the other specifications, for example:SO-DIMM,HyperX and so on.Is there a big difference between these and all the other kinds, and which to choose.

I have this asus motherboard: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=101&l3=345&l4=0&model=1647&modelmenu=1

  1. i would choose kingston or corsair if i was you.

  2. Hi for that board I use DDR2-6400/ 800mhz,which is the fastest that it takes. This is faster than DDR400. A DIMM is a Double In line Memory Module+ a SO - DIMM is a Small Outline version usually for laptops, Variations exist, mostly older or specialist. HyperX is a brand name for a premium KIngston product. Most brands work with Asus boards, Generic memory is  good for this board. but the variables include Latency.which is the ability for the memory to be cleared and reused by the CPU, it is expressed in clock cycles 5-5-5-12 for example. The less cycles the faster it is. Wikipedia has good lessons on memory and how it works. It is a good stable board, but has only 1 IDE connector so you will need a SATA hard drive,or CD/DVD as your second drive

  3. with the asus the HyperX would be the best as these are typicaly used for gaming just make sure you get 2 1gb chips

  4. SO-DIMM is for Laptops.. you want 800mhz for the best speed.  The lower CAS you get the faster it is as well...
