I'm 25 disabled but active and like a lot of grappling, submission style and I was going to take martial arts. But what style would be suitable for me.

  1. Japanese Jiu Jitsu would be a good start.

You did not state whether your disability effects your mobility. Joint locks and chokes are good starters.

If you use a cane (like me) you might want to practice some form of stick fighting such as jo, la canne, or other cane / walking stick techniques. If you do, I advise people to stay away from Cane Masters unless nothing else is available to them. It has a lot of flash but many people in the stick community do not hold it in very high esteem.

  2. It depends greatly on your particular disability.  If you have back, neck, or spine problems grappling and submissions could make it worse.  If you have poor eyesight but are otherwise physically healthy, I think Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Japanese Jiu Jitsu would be great - they are close-up arts and very dependent on hand-feel, opponent control, and angles - all done from close range.

Maybe if you were more explicit about your disability you would get a more useful answer.
