I'm young (only 19) and I already don't have the best back in the world so riding comfortably is important to me. And I've heard differing opinions on the subject. But in your opinion, which style is more comfortable?

  1. Simply Put, the Cruiser was built to Cruise, Like sitting on your coach. The Crotch roket was built for speed, Lean foward to configure your weight and control the bike. It will hurt your back in a very short distance.

  2. Look at the two different positions and tell me what you think.

  3. If you have a bad back then i would not advise riding a full on track type bike !

Why dont you sit on a few and then make your mind up !

  4. With a bad back you have no choice if long rides are intended you have to choose a cruiser

  5. As long as it's true cruiser, and not a sport cruiser, it will be more comfortable than a sport bike. Some of the sport cruisers are basically sport bikes with cruiser styling. I own a VTX 1300 and find it very comfortable, more comfortable over long drives than my car actually. When looking for a bike, sit on it and see how it feels. Are all the controls easy to reach and comfortable? If you have to reach excessively for the handlebars or the foot pegs, then look for a different bike that you find more comfortable.

  6. Why don't you ask the same question a different way five more times.  Maybe you'll get the answer you want.

  7. a standard bike is more comfortable for 19 year old. for example, sv650 or FZ6. Cruiser is too heavy to manage for new rider. Crotch is for sport riding and hard you back on long highway riding.

  8. Crusier. Sport bikes are hard on your arms and your weught is leaning forward all the time.  I have owned both styles

  9. Bad back? Go for a "standard".

Cruiser leans back. Pressure on tailbone.

Sport bike leans forward. Bent spine.

Standard, as in the old "universal Japanese motorcycle", has an upright seating position. Spine straight, with a balanced load on it.

Many of today's "dual sports" and "sport cruisers" allow this seating position.

  10. Not all cruisers have a lean back seating position, mine is a very standard upright seating position. I would definitely stay away from sport bikes if you have back issues. Go with a cruiser that doesn't cause you to lean back or a standard type bike, which can be a little hard to find these days.

  11. The   cruiser motorcycles are more comfortable. Sport bikes are not comfortable and are only made so squids can play joe racer.

  12. sport bikes with big seats...

i have a CBR1100XX and i've done longer trips with less discomfort than my friends with v-max's
