Which kind of paint can I use to paint some wood words ?

I think I would like some kind of paint that... does not look like wall paint, you know, something bright or shine but not really really shine, just something nice and with cute looking, like if I bought it in Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or Macy's you know.

Assuming the wood hasn't been treated/varnished then your best bet would be acrylic paint.
