  1. Lamp 1-:

    Power = Volts * Amps

    Power = 12 *  I = 15 Watts

    Current = 1.25 Amperes

    Lamp 2-:

    Power = V * I

    Power = 240 * I = 5 Watts

    Current = 0.021 Amperes

    Lamp 1 still uses more power as it is rated at 15 Watts whereas Lamp 2 is only rated at 5 Watts.

  2. watt is the unit of power. The higher the number of watt, the more power the lamp consumes.

  3. unit of power is watt.

    power (watt) = voltage (volt) x current (ampere)

    lamp 12 V, 15 W consume more power.

  4. Power is in watts, so you already have the answer: 15 watts is more than 5 watts.

    .

  5. Doctor Q has gotten it wrong. Power use relates to wattage. For example the power company charges you by the number of kilowatt hours you use. This is your power usage.

    As the 12v lamp uses 15watts and the 240v lamp uses only 5watts of power then the 12v lamp uses 3 times the power used by the 240v lamp.

    The correct equation is Volts x Amps = Watts

    or Watts/Volts=amps

    The watts is the power use.

    The 240 v lamp is drawing only a tiny amperage, .0208 amps

    The 12volt lamp draws 1.25 amps
