Official language of America, you mean? I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to ask. I wouldn't put German anywhere near a minority status, since Spanish would clearly outstrip it in terms of number of people who spoke the language in America.

If you're wanting to know languages easiest for Americans to learn, it would be: (1) Spanish (since they're around it all the time), (2) French (since they have an ear for Spanish), (3) German (since it's related to English), (4) Mandarin Chinese.
