I am about to start computer engineering in Uni and it was recommended to get a laptop with a core2duo processor...I currently have a HP pavilion DV 4000 (dv4145ea) with a pentium M 1.73 GHz 512 RAM and no dedicated GPU...Been using it for three years now...!!! When I program on it it goes really slow....I think its the amount of processes I have running on my system....

I have been looking into getting a new one....I have looked into the new HP DV5 the new Sony FW...I am not to big on DELL but open for recommendations on it...

DV5 spec are on the following site -http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF06b/321957-321957-3329744-64354-64354-3744188-3753634.html

I admit to be more inclined towards hp..I have used them most of my life...(including desktops) looking at the dv5 though it has a 3mb L2 cache...Is that good...??

Open to sugeestions..

EXTREMELY CONFUSED HERE...!!

  1. That is an excellent machine for what you will be doing. Looks more powerful than my desktop. I didn't notice a price, looks expensive.

CPU and RAM are most important plenty of power there.
