Which large luxury suv to get?

Please don't offer alternatives. I know there are better value out there like the Honda Pilot and the Buick Enclave and it's cousins. This is more of a hypothetical question. I know which I like better but just curious as to what people think.

I like the Audi or Benz.  test drive both and see which one gives you more for the buck

The GL. The Audi is a bad move so long as it has Audi behind the mechanisms. I'd avoid those with great energy just to save myself the hassle. The only really luxury Audi is the A8, but the A6 is debatable. Oh, and the Q is more minivan than luxury SUV. It's a bloated, slow boat.

The Escalade is nothing more than and American product. It's a regurgitation of the Tahoe and all other rebadged versions of the same d**n thing. Nothing special there.

The GL is unique. I may actualy be getting the GL550 so I prefer it based on real test drives of two already (both the 450 and 550). I've also tested the Escalade and while it's quick, the 550 is a much better package. The GL450 isn't too bad either. I enjoy the power and space that the GL offers in a much more luxurious package.

(I have to add, though, that the 2009 Honda Pilot Touring keeps creeping onto my list. It's an excellent vehicle and has all the amenities for about $10-20k less than the GL or Escalade.)

Beyond cost and reliability, what else is there? The MB beats the others in terms of luxury features and layout so what more is there? If I'm going to purchase any car, no matter what price, I want it to be reliable. I don't care how much parts cost if driving the car otherwise makes me happy.

I think none of the above... let's save some gas. I suggest a Honda CRV, or Toyota Rav4 if you must have an SUV. If you're just fantasizing about them, then that's cool, I'd go with the Mercedes.

Go for the Audi. German built, best interior quality, best 4x4, and still the best technology in it... Besides, the 4,2 liter engine is simply the best German V8 on the market! And I believe the emissions are the lowest as well...
