  1. I think that the craftsman is a better quality lawn mower, however i have an 82 year old neighbor who has the other one that has large rear wheels, and i have tried it and it is fairly easy to use.

    1) i would recommend craftsman if:

    * you want for professional-looking job

*long lifespan of mower (higher quality mower)

    *small Business or residential

    2) I would recommend Briggs and Stratton if:

*you want to get id done quick and easy, and don't mind if your lawn does not look like it was done professional. (im pretty sure this one is lighter than the other one)

    I hope this helps! :)

  2. Note that both mowers have the Briggs engine.  Sears and Home Depot do not manufacture their own mowers.  This is done by a third party who supplies these "generic and store brand" mowers to numerous customers.  Chances are good these were made in the same plant.  However, it does not mean the specs for the non-engine parts were identical.

The only difference will be the quality in the thickness of the deck, and and durable the cables, throttle mechanism, and assorted piece parts are.   That requires an "eyeball" judgement, if you can find both the models to compare.

All other things being said, I'd see if the Craftsman lifetime guarantee applies to the mower.  If so, the decision is a no brainer.
