I know there are thousands of questions about this but mine is sort of different. Everyone seems to have their own opinion and way of healing tattoos and i really don't think one is so different from the other. I recently got a tattoo and used a&d for the first 3 days. on the 4th day i got a serious allergic reaction to it. maybe i put too much. its healed now but now i definitely won't use it again or any other ointment. my tattoo artist said to just use lotion from the beginning. now i've seen petroleum based lotions and non-petroleum based lotions. i know that petroleum can draw a small portion of the ink out. but how much can it really draw out? i figured maybe a non-petroleum based lotion would be best for it. it only seems logical. so whats your opinion?

  1. i use eucerin calming creme it works very well.

  2. Non -petroleum based lotion! Any thing unscented. Lubriderm really works well or eucerin.

  3. I was gonna suggest Vitamin E ointment but sounds like you are allergic to ointments.  Any natural lotion (unscented) should help.

  4. Non-petroleum and unperfumed is the way to go.

It doesn't matter what you use - the trick is to use it sparingly over the tattoo and not to soak it in cream etc. That will help prevent fading.

The best thing to use is usually just plain old sorbolene or Vitamin E cream. Personally I find creams heavy so I use a light coating of Vitamin gel instead and it works just as well.

    Good luck.

  5. NON Carcinogenic, UNFRAGERENCED lotions.

  6. Non-petroleum seems would be best

  7. I have always used Aquaphor in a very thin layer for the first week or so.  Then when it starts to flake use Non-scented Lubriderm lotion.  My husband is a tattoo artist.  it's basically your preference because every artist recommends something different.  I just noticed that when I do this the whole thing is normally healed in 2 weeks or less.

  8. Unscented Lubriderm, I got a taoott 4 weeks ago and that's what they told me to use.  It healed completly in three weeks.

  9. It's called, "Tattoo Goo" , they have lotion and soap. Buy both, wash with the soap when it's itchy and it'll stop the itch. Use the lotion whenever. It speeds up the healing process. I swear by it, it works wonders. TRY IT
