Which makes a deeper sounding bass drum?

I have a cherry red mapex drum kit. I have a towel pressed against the drum from the inside. The bass drum dosen't have a hole in the front like some do. It sounds pretty nice right now, but maybe I could make it sound better by putting pillows inside it? Some advice plz.

More pillows will deaden the sound, not make it deeper. Try detuning the front head until you get to the pitch you are looking for. If you see wrinkles in the head then you went to low. You can also try the same with the batter side, but you my not like the response if it's too lose.
