  1. Any of the self defence reality based arts will help but the real answer is what you personally feel comfortable with and can adapt to more easily :)***

  2. Mixed Martial Arts are so under estimated and the misconceptions are soooo huge.  Any one can be a Mixed Martial Artist and I mean anyone.  Go study Boxing for three months, then some judo to about blue belt ( Americanized Belt Ranking ) then some Jujitsu to about Blue belt ( Americanized Rank ) then hook up with some kick boxers at your local Boxing gym and then seek out some Muay Thai training and BAAM!!! about a year and a half to two years after you start you should be ready to take on the world.  Everyone Thinks that MMA is one solid art form and in a tactical sense it kind of is, but the true MMA pratitioner borrows the best techniques from as many arts as he thinks will give him the upper hand in a scientific real world sense.  Nothing beats Mixed Martial Arts....NOTHING!!  Pureist Arts suck out loud...where are these arts in the cage? getting stomped and never coming back that's where!!!

  3. Any martial art will give you both of what you are looking for if trained correctly under a good instructor. This means a school that trains realisticly with progressive resistance.

Given a choice of the two i would choose Hapkido, because in addition to fairly balanced striking between hands and feet, it also does teach a lot of throws, locks, chokes, and take downs, which Muay Thai does not really cover, at least not as it's taught most places.

This is just a personel preferance, as either one will give you what you are looking for.

  4. i do muay thai and it is only good for a bar room brawl or a back alley street fight and i have beenin fights and used mauy thai.it really isnt a self defense style.so i would go for hapaikdo but the conditionng for muay thai is out standing.
