  1. id say hapkido first cuz hapkido is a whole sustaining ur stance,  then praying mantis is more like speed. so if u combine the two u end up with good results

  2. It depends on what you are looking for. Hapkido was designed as a very defensive martial art as a major reason for it's development was to protect against TKD along with other martial arts and random attacks. Therefore, it is not so much a "fighting" martial art as much as it is a defensive martial art. Many techniques revolve around using your opponent's momentum and feature such situations as "Defense against chokes, defense against punching, defense against kicks, defense against grabs from behind, and etc." Hapkido can be translated in English to mean "The way of coordinated power" and features the three principles of "water, circle, Ki (power).... Most, if not all, techniques revolves around these three principles as well as the coordination of power.

As far as I know (although my knowledge of praying mantis is very limited) praying mantis is a great martial art and features many techniques revolving circular and sudden motions.

Both styles (like many martial arts) have a decent focus on using the opponent's force.

Well, I hope this information helped.

  3. hapkido is cool. praying mantis looks crazy. brazillian jiu-jitsu, wing chun, judo are also cool.

  4. which ever you like more.

the one that seems to have the best instructors.

the one that does real sparring(helps a lot with real self defense)

the one that fits in to your price range.

  5. That depends on whether or not you want to learn how to fight.

    If you don't, then either.

    If you do, then neither.
