Question:

Which martial arts contain environment-use techniques?

I would like to know which martial arts or fighting styles contain techniques that make use of the environment, like the walls or any object that is available close to you. For example, grabbing your opponent and smash him against a wall, or a table or a chair that is close to you. Or grabbing you opponent's head to strike it against a standing tube. Anyone knows?

  1. Any art.

  2. Bas Rutten has a street fighting video about this.  You can find it on youtube (it's 8 or 9 parts - here is part 1).  It's good info, plus he's hilarious!

Krav maga is the style that addresses this most specifically.

  3. Many martial arts teach these principles at higher levels.  Learning in my youth with my best friend led to us learning a lot on our own about how to use the environment (mostly unintentional learning the hard way!)  Now the style that I teach includes using your environment as well as make-shift weaponry.

My advice to you is to seek out a martial arts school that you like with a qualified teacher that you like and study hard.  There are many hidden things within every art.  Practice will reveal them to you.

  4. I have had some of this training, and a Jujitsu Instructor who had taught Army Rangers in WW II instructed me. It sounds very similar. It is very effective and dangerous to practice.     Throwing someone into walls and using judo moves with hits , both ridge hand, spear finger and open handers, yes open hand hits. Palm hits, but no kicks were in his style.

Also on the mats with choke holds and other submission holds., but we did this on the lawn, and that ground was hard. No mats. he was very good with a cane or any stick. A knife was his favorite weapon, and he was beyond anyone I ever seen with disarming techniques.

  5. krav maga

purpose is to take down the opponent using any means necessary

    absolutely no holds barred

u use everything body environment etcetra

  6. Probably just about any art.

One of the things that you learn is:

Use your martial art as a last resort.

One of the options before you get to that point is:

    Find a weapon for yourself.

You also learn that ANYTHING can be a potential weapon.

  7. any art that shoves, pushes, or throws. what you do with those techniques is up to you and your environment.
