I want to learn martial arts but I want to learn alot of attack and offense moves, not too much on neutralizing or using the attackers momentum. Is there a martial arts that can make me a better fighter in like take downs and punches and different blocks? can you recommend me something? kung fu? jujistu? karate? taekwando?

  1. The most effective and painful martial arts use the opponent's weight and momentum against them; Brazilian Jujitsu, Japanese Jujitsu, Judo, Aikido, Karate, Hapkido, Ninjutsu, etc. You can make just about any martial art more offensive. Take Tae Kwon Do for example. You can wait for someone to attack you and then you defend yourself, or you could just walk up to someone and knock them out with a roundhouse kick. Take Ninjutsu for example. You can wait for someone to attack you and defend yourself, or you could just sneak up behind them and break their arm or neck. When you're in a fight, you should fight until your attacker is no longer a threat. You neutralize the threat and then you STOP! Martial arts are not about hurting people. They can hurt people and if necessary they can kill someone, but you should not fight more than you need to. If someone punches you, you don't kill them. You only fight to neutralize the threat, anymore and you're the attacker and you're in the wrong. If you want the most aggressive martial art out of the four you named that doesn't use the opponent's weight or momentum against them then go with Tae Kwon Do.

  2. I would suggest boxing.

No neutralizing, and about the only defense is blocking a punch.

Sounds like you really DON'T want to learn a martial art at all, you just want to use bits and pieces to assault people.

You really would be much better off learning a martial art that redirects an assailant's energy against himself. For this you should look into the Internal Arts: Tai Chi Chuan, Bagua, Qi Gong, Kuoshu, and other internal disciplines. The external art of Jujitsu is another that you should take into consideration.

  3. BJJ, Wrestling, Boxing.

  5. If you are looking to NOT use the attackers momentum, Aikido is not the art you are looking for.

If you are looking to punch and kick alot, BJJ is not the right art for you.  It honestly sounds to me like you would be interested in Kempo Karate, or Kajukenbo.

Remember, though, there is much more to martial arts than finding the right martial arts, you also need to make sure that you pick the right school as well.

There is a list of martial arts with descriptions/videos and articles to help you choose the best school, etc on this site:  http://www.socalmartialarts.com

  6. kung fu, tae kwon do, karate will all teach you a lot of attacks.

just go to classes of all of them and see what you like more ebcause i could say tae kwon do because i like that more but you might hate it or where ever you go might train completely different to me.

just see what is near by and affordable then go have a go see if you like it if you do continue with it.

  7. A true Martial Artist knows that the best offensive attack can be accomplished when the attacker extends any part of their body that they can use as a weapon within the perimeter of your farthest reach by your hands or feet. With this thought in mind, I suggest learning either Kenpo Karate or Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. These two styles offer everything you need to become a proficient fighter and Martial Artist. The main thing you have to do is dedicate yourself to your training and expertise of the style you choose. Good luck in your ventures.

  8. Well you should learn some defensive moves too because its highly recommended.

well you learn kyokushin karate. because they mainly work on striking and taking blows.

dont get confued with another style of karate.

theres over many styles of karate.

remember the part of kyokushin if not its going to be entirely different than the style im talking about right now

  9. Irish Step Dancing.

Seriously, why would you limit yourself like that? I mean, personally, I love putting a fist up and letting the other guy run into it (using the attacker's momentum). Why would you give up the opportunity to snicker about something like that?

Whatever. No matter what martial art you pick, you're going to be somehow disappointed. You're certainly not going to take a guy whose bigger than you with a lower center of gravity down without using his own momentum.
