  1. "jclog" is correct in his response.  The highest quality billiard balls are made of phenolic resin.  Aramith Super Pro balls and Brunswick Centennial balls are the top two on the market.  However, cheaper polyester balls are often found on many bar tables.  The main differences in high quality phenolic resin and cheap polyester are the following:  scratch resistance, roundness tolerance, color brilliance and resistance to fading, uniform homogeneous consistency, and consistent collision reaction.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee
