The first answer is very wrong..It is NOT allowed..

A Marine can not wear his utility uniform for leave..Its a work uniform, not a go to the mall or show off uniform..

You will learn this in boot camp..and if you are caught you can and should  be punished..

Marines DO NOT wear their cammies while outside of their base.

Other branches may allow their people to wear that unifrom out in public but as a Marine you will quickly learn you are not in those other branches..Its all about honor, and respect of one self and unit and branch.

Those are duty uniforms and are not suppose to be worn outside of duty.  You can wear them to and from work and when you get deployed.  But if you are going on leave you are not suppose to wear it.  You either wear civilian clothes or you wear the dress uniform or uniform without the service blouse.

I have a friend graduating from MCRD San Diego (Hotel Company Platoon 2173) in about eight days and in his last letter he told me he was issued the desert ACU's. As far as wearing it after graduation and on leave ect, yes you are allowed.

You will be issued both types of MCCUU's in Boot Camp and you will wear the appropriate one for the season.

As far as wearing it out on liberty....ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! The MCCUU is a work/tactical uniform and is not to be worn for fun. There are special occasions when it can be worn out in public; however, that is determined by your CO and under strict guidelines. If you are caught in public with this uniform on, you will most likely be written up and charged under the UCMJ!

Other branches of the Armed Forces seem to have no pride in their service or themselves and will go out in public in their working uniform looking like a big bag of a**. Marines do not!

You will learn all of this while in boot camp.
