  1. The most resistant are probably platinum and gold, but they will yield to mixture of nitric and hydrochloric acids slowly.


  2. Tin dissolves in acid just fine.  Gold and platinum will dissolve in aqua regia, but some platinum group metals will not.  Osmium and iridium are two such metals; iridium is known to only dissolve in molten sodium or potassium cyanide.

    Tantalum is also very corrosion resistant - it is only attacked by hydrofluoric acid and molten alkalis.

  3. Tin will never dissolve but merely burn as if it were scorched by a flame.
