If it's your first time playing, I would say go with MGS2, There you can get the jyst of how the game goes, MGS3 was a bit more advanced and for fanboys like me :p

not only because  solid 3 is abetter game then  solid 2  but also because subsitence comes with the first and only  english translation of  metal gear 2  solid snake  released 18 years ago in japan and japan only on the msx 2 platform
