Go with a schecter or a fender.

BC rich and ESP and LTD are all decent guitar brands, but they are cheaply made and marked up on the pricetag.  you are mostly paying for the look.  They are made in asia out of low quality materials, so you get low quality sound.

Ibanez makes decent guitars for a great price, but i still suggest fender or schecter which almost give you more than you pay for.

Fender is not known as a big metal band, because historically it hasnt had the best distortion.  However, alot of metal players are turning to fender for quality nowadays, suc has Frank Bello from anthrax, Jim root (from slipknot), John5 from marilyn manson and Rob Zombie and many more.

Fender makes great guitars at great prices, even at their low end, so i recomend that you get a fender HSS stratocaster.  It will give you both good distortion and good clean sounds, is made out of great quality materials at a low price

Schecter is also a great brand reputable for its metal guitars, with a whole mess of sponsors you can find on their website.  Schecter makes some of the best asianmade guitars out there at rock bottom prices because they use the highest quality asian amterials and assemble them with US hardware.  The tone is terrific on any schecter.

I used to be a schecter endorsee, but now i'm a fender endorsee, and I only take endorsements from brands that I truly think are good (i turned down crate, line6, ESP, BC rich etc because I think they all suck...well not line6, i just dont like line6)

bc rich's are cheaply made. go jackson or ibanez
