Which method of learning guitar is better?

taking lessons is honestly the best answer. trust me, having someone there to explain theory and help you when you're stuck is invaluable. also, it's a good idea to learn lots of other songs and get yourself passable at the guitar before you start writing.

Taking lessons. No question about it. Nothing can substitute having someone by your side correcting you and giving you the correct informaton on everything. You can use books and in the internet as references, but to learn solely from those will not have the same effect as spending money on lessons.
