Dollar ($) euro isn't so commonly used in the arab gulf

You can take either and just have it converted at the airport or any other money exchanges in Yemen.  You might get a better rate on the Euro, as the dollar is pretty weak and the exchange rate isn't as good as the Euro or the pound.
