  1. In a travel report I found, that maize-sowing in Texas takes place about the first two weeks of March and another publication reports its maturing time as up to 206 days dependent on rainfall and temperature.

South Texas Maize labyrinth-attractions are offered for Sept. 22 - Nov. 29 and the need tall, grown up maize plants.

But Maize doesn`t have a well-defined growing season:

"Maize used for silage is harvested while the plant is green and the fruit immature. Sweet corn is harvested in the "milk stage", after pollination but before starch has formed, between late summer and early to mid-autumn. Field corn is left in the field very late in the autumn in order to thoroughly dry the grain, and may, in fact, sometimes not be harvested until winter or even early spring."
