  1. Alot of people will tell you to get a used bike to learn on. I was gonna get a 250 simply because I didnt have a desire to get anything bigger and was talked out of it. Ended up with a 700 and Im glad I did.

  2. You don't want a 250, it's too small. You'll grow out of it in like two weeks. Get a 600, I started on an 800 and had never even ridden on a bike prior. I have a Suzuki Intruder 800. I'm 5'8", 150. It's got some power but is still very light, only 440lbs, lighter than some sport bikes. It aslo has a very low height so someone shorter like us has a lot of control on it. It has shaft drive which is great, I love the feel and there's no maintenance like ther is with a chain. I'd definately recommend a shaft drive bike.

  3. Well if you want a 250 you can scratch the harley off of your list. There is the honda rebel, a suzuki 250, the hyousung 250.

The 250 will be good for a while, but i would look more into the 500cc class

  4. Get yourself a Yamaha Raider X 1900cc of pure fun, power, and I'ts got great reviews. Have fun and be safe.

  5. honda rebel (234 cc) and v-star 250 (250 cc) are good small/starter bikes

  6. check out the kawasaki ninja 250r

  7. I presume you have a full licence? if not go get it first the rider training school will be a good source of advice.

If you have passed your test your physical size and level of fitness comes into it as bikes are different sizes and weights. If you're after a smallish cruiser yamaha viragos and the drag stars are ok as are the suzuki volusia range and the kawasaki vn800's if you're after something bigger the three already mentioned and honda do models up to about 2000cc. personally i steer clear of harley as they tend to be overpriced for what they are and are about image over substance
