Which motorcycle would you choose??? 08 Ninja 250r or a 08 Suzie SV650S???

I'm a beginner rider going to take the MSF course within a few weeks. And I know 08 250r s are almost impossible to find. I am 23 yrs old, 165 lbs., 6' tall. Will be riding about 20 miles on the freeway to attend school one way. Ride my bicycle often and drive stick shift Acura. However, I would appreciate your opinions on which one would you choose, and which one would you recommend I purchase? Thank you!

Get the 650, be careful, helmet, gloves boots and jacket. 71 horsepower. In the old days a Triumph Bonneville was 52hp and a sporty was 55. The SV will haul!

i'd say the suzuki, if for nothing else, your height.

No comparison, the SV is a bike that will serve you well as a beginner and still be a bike you can ride as an expert.

SV 650  SECOND HAND..     06 model..   cheaper when you throw it down the road..

buy a new one in a years time when you have an idea what your doing..

based on your size I would be inclined to recommend the 650.  You would probably outgrow the 250 within a year and want something bigger.  At your size and height I don't think you should have any problems handling the 650 either.  

I do love the 08 Ninja and actually had a deposit on one that never showed up at the dealer's so I'll be getting the 09 model.  But I'm smaller and older than you and the price was right on the 250 though I was originally going to go for a 600.

That's a tough one. I would say the 250r is always the best starter bike, but unfortunately it would be better if you had to travel by surface streets rather than the freeway. If it is a highly populated area then it might be rough, as the 250r doesn't produce but 25 HP. It's a very cheap bike though, I would still get it to learn on.

SV 650...you will out grow a 250 about 6sec. after you finish the MSF course.  Dont get me wrong, the ninja is a good machine for what it is, but most people get bored with them.  Most people I know with an sv love them.

The SV650S is the only real choice.
