I'm looking for a nice quality mountain bike. I want something lightweight and am not sure if I need a womens bike or if it matters that much? I am happy to buy used if it's a good brand and under $1000. I'll be using it mainly on weekends riding on easy trails (not for racing or up too many hills) but I do want something that's nice to ride and feels like a quality bike.

  1. Just out of curiosity would you consider something like a Cyclocross bike??  Lightweight and no front suspension but they are made to absorb rough terrain and provide quick easy biking...  They are set up for a road bike seating position so maybe that wouldn't be good for you, I don't know what you like or how adventurous you are to try something new.  Anyways I checked out the Surly Crosscheck which got a lot of good reviews.  It runs about $950.  Whatever bikes people suggest though, I would definitely check out their ratings on the links below for more consumer review information.  Also the Jenson link is where I ALWAYS look for good deals so check them out too :)  Happy riding!
