I love Charles/Charlie. Both the "real" name and the nickname are cute and could be used at any age.

I'm not a fan of Richard/Rich/d**k...

I love the name Charles/ Charlie!  Richard is nice, I would just be worried about people calling him "d**k" for short.

charles is a great name. you could always use richard as a middle name. =D
