Neither. Cornelius reminds me of the horrible Minister of Magic in Harry Potter, Cornelius Fudge. And Richard has the nickname of D*ck.

I like them both.

But I would go with Richard. Because it is the one people have heard more, so its less "weird." I also like it because it is the name of the main character in one of my favorite books.

Cornelius is a nice name, but he would get Corny as a nickname ( I think Corny is cute, but lots of other people probably wouldn't). Also, it reminds me of a g*y dude, but that's just me, I'm fairly certain that other people won't associate it with g*y men.

Richard all the way!! Then as a kid he could use the nick name Ricky cuz Richard is too old sounding, then as he gets in to his 30s or so, move to Rich or Rick, then when hes in his 50s and up, Richard

my dads name is cornelius, he goes by corey, if anyone called him cornelius he gets pissed. as for richard.. not a fan unless ur giving birth to a grandpa sorry

I prefer Richard, but it sounds too old for a little kid.  Try taking a fresher approach when choosing a name, something modern and something that won't get the kid made fun of.  Try, just plain Ricky??
