Wow - a timeless, sensible, Biblical name or a name that automatically makes me think of musical octaves or the number 8...  One is safe and the other is weird, IMO.  Depends on your surname, though - if you have a common surname you might want to choose a less common first name, and vice versa.  However, I see Octavius as a name that is more likely to attract playground nastiness and that needs to be spelled out and explained for the bearer's entire life...

I like David better. It's a classic name that never gets old. I can't see a child named 'Octavius'...

I like both of your names but I think Octavius is different, and special, your give him the middle name of David! Octavius  David.Reminds me of a king.
