  1. Elizabeth which can be shortened to Ellie which is so cute

  2. Elizabeth!!

Eliz, Ela, Beth, Liza, and Eli could all be nicknames...

  3. Elizabeth is cuter.

I like Rosalie, which is kind of similar to Rosalind.

  4. I'd have to go with Rosalind.

While they're both lovely choices, Elizabeth has been very common for a long time (it's still in the top 20), so it's not nearly as exciting.  That being said, it has been worn by queens and literary heroines, so it's not a choice I'd quickly discourage unless I found the other option more appealing.

Rosalind certainly has a fair amount of history behind it as well.  It's been worn by characters in several Edmund Spenser poems, the heroine of Shakespeare's "As You Like It", a famous scientist who did important work on DNA, an award-winning author, and one of the moons of Uranus.  It has recently become one of my favorite names; it's both strong and feminine.  It has tons of cute nickname options as well -- Rose, Rozz, Rosa, Rosie, and (my favorite) Lindy.  If you are looking for a choice your daughter will not have to share with several friends and classmates, Rosalind hasn't been in the top 1000 in the U.S. since the 1970's.  In spite of that, it's easy to spell and will be easily pronounced by her teachers.

Though both are really fabulous choices, I would encourage you to go with the bold and beautiful Rosalind.

  5. i like the spelling Rosalynd better (:

  6. elizabeth. i like roselyn better than rosalind

  7. I love both of them but i really like Elizabeth. Its cute and its spunky.

    Her nickname should be Eliz

  8. Elizabeth.

Not to say that Rosalind is bad by any means, on the contrary, I love the Shakespearean reference, and it's uncommon and very classy.

But Elizabeth, I think, is unrivaled by anything else. It's got literary connections, and it's classic, regal, graceful, and elegant. It works so well on a girl of any age, and can fit anything she wants to do. Elizabeth fits a politician, a waitress, a dancer, whatever. It ages gorgously, yet never sounds "old". And it's got a vast selection of nicknames :)

    Good luck!

  9. Elizabeth

    One:

    It's my middle name

    Two:

    I think it's beautiful

  10. Elizabeth ! I like Rosalyn.

  11. Rosalind

  12. Elizabeth

    but what about Rosanna

    or Rosanne

  13. Elizabeth is my favorite name and maybe Rosalind could be her middle name but for a first name deffantily Elizabeth.

  14. Elizabeth!

  15. Elizabeth.

I do like Rosalyn or Rosalie, but not really Rosalind...

  16. It totally depends! I think both are great choices, but it depends on what you're going for. Elizabeth is more classic and regal sounding. It has a ton of nickname options, and while it's not top ten now, it's very common among a ton of different ages Rosalind feels ready for a comeback. It was popular for awhile, but it's faded out some. It still has nickname options, but not as many as versatile Elizabeth. Rosalind also feels more floral and soft, where Elizabeth is more upright and hard. Rosalind is more memorable, where Elizabeth is more universal. If you have a bizarre or difficult last name, Elizabeth is a better choice. If your last name is more like Jones or Harris, Rosalind is a much better choice. For me, I would use Rosalind, but mainly because Elizabeth is my middle name, and I don't want to name a child after myself!

  17. Elizabeth deff. =)

  18. Elizabeth is the ultimate classic beauty! I would definitely choose Elizabeth, not only because it's so pretty, but it also has so many nickname options. Rosalind is also very feminine and pretty, but Elizabeth will always be one of my all time favorites. Best of luck!

  19. I love Elizabeth; it's one of my favorites.  But, I don't care for Rosalind at all.

  20. Elizabeth. Lots of nickname choices...ellie, lizzy, liz, beth etc. Rosalind is okay but I like Rosalyn better.

  21. I like both names, but Rosalind is so pretty! And it's not that common right now. I would choose that.

  22. Rosalind. :)

  23. Elizabeth
