Question:

Which name fits our family best?

I am due tomorrow and have a girl's name picked out, but are taking a few boys names with us. We will wait until we meet the little guy (if it is a boy) to see what he looks like and then pick a name. What are your thoughts on how the following names my husband and I have agreed upon would fit in with our family and make a great name for our son (again, assuming it is a boy).

Parents' names: Michael and Kelly

Brother's name: Hunter (he is the little dude in my profile pic)

Choices: Pierce, Austin, Gavin, Roman, Xavier, Matteo, Paxton, and Jordan.

These are the names we are considering, so please don't be rude. I am due tomorrow and am hormonal enough as it is. I really don't need any additional suggestions because we have been over every name imaginable (from Cole to Slade to Hudson) and have a reason for these being on the list - they are the only ones we can agree on. So please, your helpful thoughts on the above names are appreciated. I will pick a best answer, assuming I don't go into labor in the meantime!

  1. Paxton Lola.

    It's my best friend's name.

  2. I think Roman, Gavin or Paxton would be my top picks, in that order. I think all of them go very well with the rest of your names, and they all sound good with Hunter (for example: "Hunter, Roman, time for dinner!") These three names all fit with Hunter, in my opinion.

I have always liked the name Matteo, but I don't know if it "fits" very well with the rest of the family's names, nor does Pierce (just seems too pretentious). Austin and Jordan are too common, I think, and I've never been much for the name Xavier.

Great pick with Genevieve!! Congrats on the new baby and best wishes to all of you as your family welcomes it's newest member. Good luck to you, especially, and I hope for a quick, easy labor and birth (if there is such a thing!)

  3. I like your choice of names. My favourites are Austin, Gavin and Paxton. But the others are ok too.

    All the best!!! =)

  4. I would go with Jordan

    Good Luck

    xx

  5. I think Genevieve is really pretty for a girl and for a boy, out of your list, the names Austin, Gavin, and Jordan go with Hunter the best. Good luck with everything!

  6. ur names r a bit different, which like, although your family's names are more regular. Pierce is a great name that is recognisable, yet not many people are called it. I'm a hundred percent pierce

  7. I have a nephew named Gavin.

  8. i LOVE Genevieve...nice one!

as for the boys my favourite is Gavin, then Matteo.

  9. I personally like Gavin a lot, but maybe Roman will be more suited. Roman, and Hunter...kind of cool duo heh :) Enjoy choosing and congratulations hun! :)

  10. Gavin would sound LOVELY combined with your family's names!

That name was at the top of my list of boy names (we've been having lots of trouble too) along with Noah, Kaden, and Oliver. I realllly loved Gavin, but BD didn't agree lol.

I like Gavin best. Then Pierce. Then Austin. Then Paxton.

I like Matteo, too. It's my BD's nephew's name (he is mexican) but I don't think it sounds as nice with Michael, Kelly and Hunter.

Definitely rooting for Gavin! Good luck! :D What is the name if it is a girl, if I may ask?

  11. i think his name should be jordan or gavin. if you pic both jordan gavin. hunter and jordan and hunter and gavin both sound strong. and your kids are going to be put to gether more than the whole family my mom thinks these are awsome too.

    good luck !

  12. Good luck for the birth.

Out of the names you've listed I would go with Jordan.  I think the name would fit in easily with his older sibling Hunter.

What about Jordan Pierce as a combination?  or Roman Pierce?  I would have suggested Jordan Roman, but they both end in "an" so sound a bit too much alike

  13. It more important to choose a name, that goes well with a middle names, as well as a surname or your actually surname.

It really doesn't have to match the parents names

I like the name Jordan and Xavier myself

Here are a few things to think about when choosing a name for your baby:

        *

Say the name out loud to check how it sounds with the baby's surname.

        *

Does the name fit the baby? (We often hear people saying they'd chosen a name only to find their baby didn't look like an Anne/ Thomas/ Amy/ Joseph...)

        *

Consider how the name may be shortened and whether or not you could live with any nicknames your baby may end up with!

        *

Check the first initials of all parts of your baby's name - is this going to spell out naughty, silly or crude words?

        *

Check your spellings... all too often parents spell their baby's name incorrectly making for a lifetime of spelling alterations!

        *

Consider whether all family members are going to have the same initials as this may cause problems later on with post being opened by other siblings or parents!

        *

Is the name difficult to pronounce? If so, consider how your child may become frustrated with people always getting it wrong.

        *

Is the name difficult to spell? When your child starts school is he going to be hindered by your choice?

        *

Is the name very common? Do you mind that your child may be one of several children in his class or street sharing the same name?

        *

Will you still like the name when your child is not such a tiny little baby any more? Is the name an appropriate one for a grown up applying for a job?

        *

Consider celebrities and how their names may affect peoples' thoughts and perceptions of your child.

        *

Look at the meaning of your baby's name. Is it one that will help or hinder him as he grows?

  14. Awww congratulations;

    Xaiver allll the way!

Me and my boyfriend are going to name our first son that!

and if hes going to have a middle name

i think Jordan Xavier is an awesome namee!! :)

You should defiantly go with that.

    Goodluck! :]

  15. I like Matteo because it fits well with Michael

I also like Roman... just because it sounds good (Y)

    congratulations and good luck :)

  16. i would have to say i like, going in order of favorite would be

    Paxton

    jordan

    Gavin

Paxton is different and I have always thought that names with x's in them were sort of exotic in a way (:

i also like jordan because it is used quite often but still it's a nice clean name that you can have when you are a baby and when you are an adult

Gavin, because the Singer Gavin Rossdale which is an amazing singer.

and i thought it's always nice to have a story behind why you named your kid that..

i think you might have to wait until your lovely baby is born to really know what you are going to name it.

I've always thought that the way the baby looks decides the name of the baby (:

Best of luck with both you and your soon to be adorable baby boy (:

  17. I really like the name Gavin and Jordan.

  18. As you have a masculine named son already, I say stick with the trend.  Drop Jordan and Austin as they are becoming unisex.

    I'd go with either,

    Pierce - Rock

Gavin - White Hawk (I don't know about a Hunter and a Hawk lol)

  19. Jordan

    good luck :)

  20. i love the name Jordan!!! it would be one of my faves and choices if i had a baby boy...but im having a girl instead!!..congrats and good luck with the birth!!

  21. Jordan Because it could be a boys name or a girls name like Hunter

  22. My honest answer? Gavin! All the way :D

  23. First off congrats!! I did a little research as I know how hard this choice can be. It is not like when you name a puppy right? I myself named my first born son Jevan  Michael (pronounced like Kevin with a J) as I took his father's middle name & mine & stuck them together Jo + Evan (obviously took out the o!!) He is 21, I also have an 8 year old (who I thought was the menopause as I was 41 when she was born!!) that I named Jenna Margaret, in doing so she will be able to use his Lands End book bag that I had monogrammed!! :o)

I wish you all of the best of luck & I hope this helps....

God bless & keep you all...

    :o)

    Name -  Meaning                            Origin

Hunter -  Hunter, or the huntsman    Old English

Pierce -  A stone or rock                 Anglo-Sax, English Greek

    Austin -  Helpful                             Latin

Gavin -   Strong, Little Hawk            English, Welsh, Common, Celtic

    Roman - No meaning? hmp!!

Xavier -   Bright New House             Arabic, Algerian, Pakistan, Persian

Matteo - (Mateo) Devoted to God    Greek

Paxton - Trader, Town Of Peace     Teutonic , Old English, Anglo No

Jordan -  To Descend, To Flow,       Biblical River Christian,Hebrew, Common

  24. Oh, you are so happy my darling ! :0) in my opinion those names  are all so cute . BUT i think Matteo matches the best.It is romantic name and I am sure he will have the most beautiful name in his school few years later . I love it because it contains letters M , E and T which are also part of his mothers , fathers and his brothers name . Good luck :)

  25. Gavin or Pierce would fit perfectly for get all the other ones...

you could even choose the name Gavin Pierce.

or Gavin Ross is also a good name.

    it goes with Hunter...

    Hunter and Gavin.

    good luck && congrats!

  26. I think Xavier is the best. It's not common and for some reason it reminds me of a Saber toothedd lion.

  27. Jordan, Pierce or Austin are the best names I think. Please don't take offence (or to anyone called these names!) but Paxton and Roman sound a bit femine. I'm a teenager and I'm telling you now that you're setting him up for undue attention with that name in school. Not that that is right of course, but that's the way things are.

Xavier is an alright name but of the few I've met they never liked the name at all! They find it a little pretentious and feel it immediately sets them apart from everyone else.

Either way, it's your choice. Good luck with the baby, I hope everything goes well!! :)

  28. I think Paxton goes good with Hunter. Maybe pick which one would go best with your family name.

But really, more often than not, you'll pick a name, and when u see the baby, decide that another name would better suit him.
