  1. The Wings have great stuff, great assets.

So does Anaheim, San Jose, and New York.

  2. Detroit, hands down.

  3. Red Wings why do you think they won the Stanley Cup.

  4. it used to be new jersey

  5. Gotta go against the grain on this one.  The question says defenseMEN, plural.  So although I agree that Lidstrom is the best defenseMAN, singular, I can't say that automatically means Detroit has the best corps.  I would give that to Anaheim.  I'm not really up on this year's FA signings, but I believe Anaheim has Niedermayer, Pronger, Schneider and Beauchemin as their top 4.  I have to go with the team that has the best depth at D, and that's not the Wings, it's the Ducks.

I like the fact that Anaheim can have one of either Nieds or Pronger on the ice for pretty much the entire game.

  6. The Detroit Redwings

    -Niklas Lidstrom

    -4 Cups

    -Averages +20 per season

-Plays on Penalty Kill and Power Play

-6 Norris Trophies (League's Best Defenseman)

  7. I will have to agree with everyone else. Lidstorm hands down.  Don't need to say much look who went and got the cup first.

  8. The Wings

  9. the detroit red wings of course.

they shut down the league during the regular season,

then almost swept their way to the cup,

    all with their defence.

it was very frustrating watching the finals and seeing pittsburgh not being able to get pucks past the blue-line.

Wings have just as solid depth as Anaheim. There's Lidstrom Rafalski Kronwall and Stuart, whom could be #1 pairings on any team (except Kronwall and Stuart whom would just be on MOST teams), Chelios has enough experience for 3 teams, then Lilja, Quincey, Meech, and Eriksson all have NHL defensive ability. They're going to be carrying 8 defensemen going into the 2009 season, and I fail to see how that is having less depth than Anaheim..

Overall, I'd say it's Detroit then Anaheim then San Jose

  11. Wings....

    Dionysis is right on.
