  1. Definitely the D60. It's what I call a "real" camera. The P80 is only a little point and shoot camera. You can do way more things with the D60 that you can't with the other. If you are serious about photography get the D60. You can get different lenses for it and will be able to do a lot more than with the little point and shoot. The D60 is a Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera and is more professional than a point and shoot. For better pictures...get the D60! Also, If you don't want to spend they money for a D60...I would recommend the D40. It's just as good as in quality of pictures. Just doesn't have all the bells and whistles as a D60. The D40 is also a DSLR camera. The Nikon D40 is one of the best out there right now and it will be a little cheaper than the D60, but still do the same job. Good luck in which ever one you choose.

  2. i prefer d60 nikon camera. and i have used d60 for 1 years and used very well.

  3. If you're willing to learn how to use it, get the d60.

If you need something simple, get the p80.

  4. Don't get the p80, that camera didn't fare will with the reviews. They said that the images were bad when zoomed in, and that the images were general bad in some lighting situations, here are some reviews for you to read to back up my smack about this the camera:

The Nikon d60 is a much better camera. The images are going to be much better . The sensor on the d60 is 15 times larger than that of a point and shoot camera, such as the Nikon p80. Also, this camera is more comfortable in hand, and you can change the lenses out, and manipulate the quality you get. It's much more convenient, and you get what you pay for. A digital SLR is always better than a point and shoot camera:

  5. I  have had Nikons since the 70's and still love them.

I would recommend the D60 by Nikon. The p80 has a very small snesor and the quality of photos will never meet that of the D60. The D60 is a great entry level DSLR. It will let you have control over your shots to go with your skill level. Everything from a flexible program mode where the camera does many of the functions to a full manual mode where you set everything as you want it. It give good quality pictures. The D60 give you a number of things you want. It has newer firmware and image processors, designed for the 10 mp sensor. It has an "Active Dust Reduction System with Airflow Control ". Nikon not putting a system on the D40 to deal with dust is one of the biggest drawbacks I see to the D40 ( though I think its still a great camera for the money) If you change lenses dust will get in and the camera needs a system to deal with it. With the D60 you get a VR lens. That will help with low light situations ( they may offer that now with the D40 but originally it was not) . The D60 has Adaptive Dynamic Range. Nikon calls it "Active D-Lighting," it lets you save some highlights that my otherwise be lost. It has a newer better metering system than the D40.

    enjoy
