I loved The Mist, stories where there are mysterious monsters or creatures from another dimension/ world/ the deep etc. Not so much things like killer clowns!

Which of King's other books (or by any other horror authoer, come to that) should I read?

Thanks!

  1. From Stephen King's book you should try "The Tommyknockers", but any of them are very good, my favourite is " The Stand".  Don't know if you have read "IT" or are just discounting it because of the fact that the killer is a clown, but I find it very good. Having said all that perhaps Stephen King is not really your type of author. Try Brian Lumley, like someone else said, Maybe too Clive Barker and possibly some of Dean Koontz's earlier stuff. Happy reading.

  2. Forget about King... he's actaully kind of a jerk in the real world. He was called for a donation for Boston's PBS "on air auction". Many local authors (such as the Reys (now deceased), who wrote the Curious George series, as well as other authors) made wonderfull donations of signed books and other signed items to the auction. King said if PBS supplied the books, mailed them to him, and paid to have them mailed back he'd be willing to sign them. What a jerk! Obviously PBS is too highbrow for him.

  3. Cell is pretty good

    Salem's Lot

    Cujo

    Any of them really!

Favourite on for me is The Stand.

You could try John Saul, his books are brilliant!

Robin Cook does medical horror ones and they are quite good too.

  4. It

  5. From a Buick 8

    Salem's Lot

    Bag of Bones

    Insomnia

    The Black House

And he is not a jerk check out http://www.thehavenfdn.org/ which he set up to auction off signed books for all kinds of creative artists who are unable to work for any reason.
