Question:

Which of the 2 countries has the most money all together not counting gdp Great Britian or the United States?

I know that the pound and the Euro are worth more than the dollar but the US has a higher GDP, more products and services to back the dollar up than the pound, and if possible can you give me a site to prove my information thank you. Oh and if you are a economist your title. thnx.

  1. The fact that one U.S. dollar is worth less than one Euro or one British pound does not tell you anything about the the aggregate value of these currencies. As you correctly point out yourself, what matters is each country's GDP.

    If you are interested in knowing how much physical currency is around, you can look at M0, the measure of the money supply which combines any liquid or cash assets held within a central bank and the amount of physical currency circulating in the economy. M0 is the most liquid measure of the money supply. It only includes cash or assets that could quickly be converted into currency. It is available from the Fed's web page (http://research.stlouisfed.org/).
