Which of the UK home-sides (including Ireland, since they have ulstermen) can make the last 4 in the World Cup

Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England.

My own guess would be only Ireland; is that too pessimistic?

  1. None of them, England out in the quarter final to Australia,

    Ireland if they beat Argentina in the group stages, out in the Quarter final to New Zealand.  

    Wales out in the Quarter final to S.Africa after losing to Australia in the group stages and Scotland out in the group stages, unless they beat Italy then they go out in the Quater finals to France.

    I know this is not answering your question, but never, I mean never refer to Ireland who is made up mostly by players from the Republic of Ireland, as a UK team, nor can you refer to them as home nations as that term has not been used since Irish independence.

    Now answering your question, judging by Ireland's performance in the recent friendlies I fear none will get through.  Wales could still surprise everyone as they have done in the past, but nobody else.

  7. If we are counting the Irish then they are the only ones of the 4 that can make the last 4. Their rugby has been a class apart from the rest of the Home Nations the last few years.

    (You would not believe how much it hurts to say that)
