I have a terribly oily skin, and I'm looking for a primer that will help keep my oilies at bay and preferably minimize enlarged pores on my nose area.. And so far, I've narrowed down my choices to:

-Smashbox, Photo Finish Light

-Philosophy, The Present Clear Make Up

-Clarins, Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch

I'd also like to know which of these primers work best with cream, liquid or powder form foundation.

So can you please help me choose which of the three will be perfect for me?

It'd be great if it can work with both liquid and powder foundation...

Thanks!

  1. Of the three you've listed, I would recommend Smashbox.  This is great on oily/combo. skin and could be used with both liquid and powder foundation, though the better result would be with liquid.

Another not on your list that is my absolute favorite, is Chanel's Le Blanc de Chanel.  It has photo-reflective pigments in it that help the light diffuse any imperfections, such as large pores.  This is very friendly to oily/combo. skin as well.

Also, try asking the counters/stores for small samples of each.  They should have no problem putting a small amount in a vial for you to try.  This will be the only true way for you to determine what you like best.

You're off to a great start as a primer is such an important step in makeup.  Hope you find one that suits your skin and expectations perfectly :)

  2. I actually tried a REVLON primier that they just came out with in stores and its amazing! FOR $12 you cant beat the price!.. works just as well as more expensive brands and I even like it better than MAC's!
