Question:

Which of the following Air band Scanners do you recommend for both Civil and Military Use?

I am looking to buy a good quality Air Band scanner for use outside Airports. I am looking for one which can handle both Civil and Military Aircraft. I would like to know which you find most professional. I have been looking at the Maycom AR-108 and the Uniden Bearcat UBC 72XLT!! Are these two any good?

  1. I wouldnt go  with anything but  a mako transmitter

    but yeah the second one you mentioned would do for what you are looking for


  2. Are you sure you know what you really want to listen to?. If yes, then I would suggest that you get a book called 'Airwaves'. The web site of it's publishers is www.photav.demon.co.uk. It lists ALL frequencies, both civil and military. From that, find a scanner that fits the bill.

  4. You'd want to make sure it covers the bands and frequency ranges you want to listen to.  Beyond that, is features.
