  1. It's difficult to say whether any of the formats will look exactly the same, since many will depend on the video profiles that are associated with a particular computer/monitor combination, regardless of whether one is a Mac or a PC.

    Formats like TIFF can include "tagged information" to help add data to make the images look similar across platforms.

    If your image is a photograph, of the options you gave, I'd choose JPG since it's the most widely supported. GIFs may have limited color depth, and bitmaps may become very large or also have limited color depth.

    PNG can contain a lot of information and have good color depth as well as ICC profiles, but its use may be limited depending on which programs people have to edit/view them. Most browsers will support it, though.
