    Both esophagus and inferior vena cava pierce the diaphragm.

    Superior vena cava; on the other hand; does not because it travels from neck region into thorax. Diaphragm separates thorax from abdominal cavity.

    the superior vena cava go UP while the other two go DOWN. the diaphragm is below the heart and lungs and under the diaphragm is the stomach and blood vessels for the inferior vena cava.
