  1. memory cell - they can respond quickly when activated by the antigen. They are the result of a prior infection with the same antigen. So when activated they can pour out the Antibody fast.

    The memory cells are quiescent cells that formed when the cell that recognized the initial antigen cell proliferated.  Since there is an expanded population, they con must a directed response faster.  The phagocytes are generally at the same numbers between challenges.
