  1. It is according to what is meant by "trait."  I assume they mean pigmentation, height, tendency toward certain diseases etc. In some cases C and some cases D.


  2. A is wrong.  B is wrong.  A and B should be reversed (inherited is from parents, acquired is over a lifetime.  "A" even gives a clue to that by saying "acquired" over a lifetime).  D is wrong because traits are the result of one gene from EACH parent, resulting in 2 genes for each trait in the offspring, UNLESS you are talking about s*x-linked traits/disease, which your question is not asking about.  So, I end up with C as the right answer for 2 reasons.  One is that as a Registered Nurse, I happen to know this, and the second reason is that by process of elimination it is the only answer left that cannot be ruled out.

  3. The answer is C.  

    It can't be D, because you inherit two alleles(genes) one from each parent, which ever is dominant results in that individuals phenotype.
