A. Simply clicking on mail I don't recognize(possible spam)

or

B. Opening an attachment

The reason I want to know is because sometimes I click on mail that I don't know who it is from and I can possibly find out by clicking on the stuff.

I mean what if it is really something important or some great opportunity that I could be missing out on and I miss out because I have a misconseption of at which point infections are contracted.

  1. attachment

  2. If you use some nice mail (e.g. web based, yahoo or gmail or hotmail) or Microsoft exchange, possibility of infection by just opening the mail is very low (if you have right settings e.g. not to automatically download images).

But, opening an attachment is more dangerous as it may cause execution of the opened program.

  3. i think both.

  4. Opening an attachment. When you open an attachment, the file is saved to your computer. Thus, if the file is infected, it will spread and infect all the other files on your computer. Just avoid opening attachments from people you don't know.

(PS Use Kaspersky Internet Security!!! It's the best anti-malware software so far...)

  5. b

  6. Both because it may have computer aids
