I think this was much more of a problem during the organized crime era but today it is much less common.  

There is no great advantage to accepting a bribe or offer to look the other way today.  The officers are hard charging individuals looking to deter crime and put bad guys in jail rather than covering them for money.  

Graft and corruption will always be present.  But those persons should be looked at as the exceptions not the rules for most do not do any harm.

There ARE bad apples out there, that's a fact that the law enforcement community has to accept. We try to cut out those bad apples before they are sworn in etc. But security guards are different since they are company based and not sworn police officers.

Please know that these security guards are NOT sworn police officers.
