  1. what make us human beings is the mercy. till an animal has it. when we lose it, that is mean we lose what make us human being. so I think the worse is  someone who lack any ability for empathy towards others.

without mercy without empathy we become Monsters.

  2. the first one.

  3. Oh dear me what a dreadful dinner party! I'd say the judgmental person would initially be the worst one to be around, however the person lacking in empathy could be capable of some pretty horrendous crimes.

  4. I'd say 2.There is always something unbearably hypocritical about those people, since they are never, of course, flawless themselves. And they're everywhere!

  5. Each of the three, are things that people can be taught

    to change.

Number three I feel would be the most difficult,as with any lack of understanding and gratitude,it would take a while to show these people the true meaning of emotion

    and compassion toward fellow men.

Also one has to take in to account why people behave in this way to begin with.So perhaps each lesson would be,to show all three that by becoming the opposite of what they are, they would be much Happier for it!

  6. All three are just as bad as vomiting in your soup and eating it , but I admit that number two annoys me the most .

  7. 2.....I hate people like that

  8. I think the judgmental one, because his actions are more likely to hurt someone else should his feelings be known.

  9. Judgmental, I suppose.  It's not like my feelings get hurt that easily, but judgmental people do annoy me, even if sometimes it's just by how stupid they are.

  10. Id say selfish. The other two really should have no effect on other people. You can shrug off someones judgments and ignore an apathetic person but someone who is selfish will take and take until there is nothing left.

  11. Lack of empathy. Those are the people that are really scary. Serial killers always lack empathy. Someone who is judgmental may be stupied and annoying, but not usually dangerous, same for a selfish person. I have met all three types and the lack of empathy is deffinentaly the one I would want to stay clear from.

  12. Truly a thought-provoking question that demands more than a cursory response.

As someone already implied, this gathering would make for a rather contentious dinner party ... on the other hand, with the right hostess or host, it could also be quite lively and informative.

My vote for the dubious "worse in nature" award goes to #3. Someone who lacks any ability for empathy towards others.

For me, the inability to have empathy is equivalent to that "vacant stare" given when someone simply doesn't get it.  Only, with a lack of empathy, that person is in a persistent vacant stare mode.

Without empathy, there is no sense of identification beyond the self ... and not only of other people, but even of objects (as in a painting, a poem, nature ...).  A lack of empathy seems to be tantamount to a bankrupt soul ... some itinerent sojourner seeking nothing.

It seems that a lack of empathy requires no response from a muted sunrise or blazing sunset ... no response to a sonnet or an epistle ... no response to a lover or friend, a stranger or relative ... and quite sadly, no response at all from the self.

Wheras -in my view- the "excessively selfish" may be persuaded to share a doll or a truck (if a child), a taste of ice cream or bite of a BLT (is an adolescent), and a lending of a train fare or a best-selling novel (if an adult).  I fear the person without empathy would not recognize any of these circumstances.

And the "obsessively judgmental" would, in the end, find solace in pairing with the obsessively non-judgmental for a blissful existence that is equivalent to living a life attached to a see-saw ... and the person without empathy has nothing to judge.

Great question!  I liked "thinking about it."

  13. 2 all the wayyy.

    a)  1 and 3 are basically the same thing. if people are selfish, they won't have empathy towards others anyway. and it's not such a big deal.

b)someone selfish can live their life without harming anyone.

c)but being judgemental towards others is what creates hatred, racism, and war.... it can be DANGEROUS and harmful to others.

  14. Judgementals because they are unpredictable, unreasonable and illogical.

  15. I wouldn't like number 1 the most, but I really see no need to feel worse towards any one.  This really is a hard question to answer.  I just feel worse towars selfishness.  But through this question it seems as though you are turning us a bit nto a number 2.

    I was kidding!

Oh, and I guess I picked selfishness, because it leads to greed, and greed leads to all of the above.
