Which of these 4 Titanic Chinned Champs could take the most punishment?

NOTE: I specified in Foreman's case as the "Foreman of the 90's" because his internal and spiritual fortitude gave him a far better chin in his 40's than he had when he was in his 20's when he got knocked loopy by guys like Jimmy Young and Ali and became a yo yo for Ron Lyle. The George of the 90's that stood up to the hardest left hooks of Gerry Cooney and walked right through Tommy Morrison's best punches was a different breed altogethor from his younger less sturdy self.

  1. I vote for Marciano, because it always seemed that no matter how hard he was hit, he kept moving forward.

There were fights where he looked the worse for wear at the end, but because he got inside and crushed his opponent, he would end up winning by knockout.

Look at the fight against Jersey Joe Walcott, and you see Walcott beating on him until Rocky gets the punch in that crumples Walcott and won the title from him.

  2. Unfortunately Ali took the most punishment.  The results are evident and as we look back from 1972 to 1981 he took alot of punishment.  His last two fights he was basicly defenseless.

  3. all of the above with marciano probably being number 1 holyfield number2 ali number 3  foreman 4

  4. ROCKY MARCIANO HAD BEST CHIN!! BUT ALI WAS GOOD ALSO! DO NOT FORGET THE BEATING HE TOOK WITH BROKEN JAW! BY KEN NORTON AND STILL WEWNT 15 ROUNDS! his jaw was broken in 2nd round!! but marciano took a lot of punishment like when ezzard charles was giving him beating, and yet!! still found way to knock him out! agree?

  5. My Lady, Early in their respective careers, hands down Evander Holyfield, not the Evander you see today but the one in the early 90's. Some will argue Marciano, but he was hurt and dropped while he was in his prime by a very old Walcott the same with Ali. George would be runner up late in his career followed by the Rock then Ali.

  6. Thumbs up Elmer!!!

Ali fought all those rounds against those all time great fighters and was only down, for a two count in the 15th against Frazier. Add on to that 10 rds with Lyle and the fight with Norton, with a broken jaw from a shot in the 2nd rd.

Ali out distances the rest due to the level of power punchers he fought. Shavers, Foreman, Frazier and Liston were all time punchers. What other fighter on your list can say that about their level of competition?

Ali was only stopped once in his career, by the great Holmes. He was a shot fighter at the time but the fight was stopped by Angelo Dundee. Ali wasn't on his back at the end!

  7. wow.. WHO CARES, I cannot even think of the question after looking at your pic in profile.. !!! you are sooooooo pretty...

let me get out of it.. and lets say Marciano cause back then the gloves were so much smaller and less padding on it.. so if marciano was able to take a punch like that and keep walking thru fighters, he must have had an impressive chin..

can I have a date with you.. ???

  8. YOU ARE PROBABLY A MAN.the answer is ALI,not for the punches he took in the late seventies but for taking that left hook off Frazier in the first fight.it should have killed him but he got up and was not as dazed as he was when he was felled by Henry Cooper.what a chin,it was too good.he just didn't know how to go down, this is one of the causes of a lot of brain damage in boxing, having too good a chin............bet you that you do not have another picture of yourself?

  9. The only thing for certain is that ROCKY never stayed down.Being able to withstand punches and get up rather quickly is a sign that his chin was just as tough as the rest of him.  Not only is Dollbaby intelligent and beautiful but she's more real than anyone whose agenda is to offend her!

  10. I love your questions Melissa.  Here is how I rank them:

    4) Holyfield.  He was a naturally smaller man and he had to endure a lot of punishment.  He was down against Cooper and Bowe.  And staggered on other occasions.

    3) Ali.  Some might say it is sacreligous that I have him 3rd.  He was knocked down a few times early in his career, and he was in trouble vs Henry Cooper.  Frazier rocked him several times and dropped him hard in their first fight.  Ali's best attribute was many opponents were unable to catch him with solid shots to the head.

    2) Foreman (90s).  Very strong and sturdy.  He took some big punches from Cooney, Morrison, Alex Stewart, and Michael Moorer.  But many fighters were unwilling to stand in front of him after landing a punch for fear of his counter.  Holyfield was willing to stand in front of him and had him reeling.

    1) Marciano.  He was small and not tremendously fast.  He often had to take 2 or 3 punches to land 1.  The 2 times he went down in his career was more of a case of him being caught offbalance.  He waded through punches and blood like it was nothing.

    Just my opinion.

  11. It's Ali, folks.

    8 Rounds against Foreman

    41 rounds against Frazier

    15 rounds against Shavers

    8 rounds against Liston

Makes for a grand total of 72 rounds against 4 of the top 10 greatest sluggers in the history of boxing.  And only 1 knockdown among them.  In the ring for roughly 3 and a half hours with these 4 guys.
