I have to take these 5 courses next semester. How difficult is each one of them likely to be?

Math 311 - Theory of Functions of a Complex Variable

Math 334 - Ordinary Differential Equations

Phys 311 - Statistical Mechanics

Phys 351 - Relativity (General & Special, including electromagnetic fields)

Phys 362 - Lasers and Optics

My guess is that either Phys 311 or 351 will be most difficult, but I have no idea about the maths courses.

  1. Wow, that's a full schedule.  Sure you don't want to break that up a bit?  It's going to be a lot of homework.  Special relativity wasn't too bad, but general was a huge pain.  Although I only did it in grad school, so you might not get too much into all the notation in an undergrad course.  Which is good.  Optics shouldn't be too bad; that's an elective anyway.  Pay attention in Stat Mech, if you head to grad school that's a big feature on most comprehensive exams, unlike optics and relativity.  Get ready to work!

  2. ODE is mostly problems.  Complex Variables is more theory.
