  1. Lead, magnesium, iron, and zinc will all react with an acidic solution (although to varying extents). Copper doesn't dissolve in non-oxidizing acids but acid rain contains the mildly oxidizing SO4(2-) ion from sulfuric acid, so copper should react as well. Platinum is inert and will not dissolve. Aluminium, though theoretically a reactive metal, is protected by an unreactive oxide layer, and should not react either. Sodium will react violently with water at any pH. Sulfur will not react.


  2. all of the metals will react to some extent. the sodium will catch fire regardless of pH. platinum should be the most resistant.

    i don't think elemental sulfur will do much at all.
