I think I have it narrowed down to two.

This victorian one (probably in the longer length): http://www.victorianrevival.com/devon.htm

And this eyelet one, with a white ribbon instead of purple (scroll down about half way to get to it): http://roses-and-teacups.com/heirloom-gowns.php

My mom thinks the eyelet is too girly. She's also really pulling for a dupioni silk one from a store at home. Pretty, but for some reason I am drawn to the heirloom cotton style with lace and with a slip underneath. And before you comment on the price, I know these are expensive, but I want to buy something that will be used with all my children and hopefully grandchildren too. Thanks!

  1. 1st one

  2. I like the 2nd one better but I guess the first one since it's for a boy. I'll be putting my son in a suit when he get baptised so I don't know too much about gowns...

OOPS wait, I was looking at the wrong one on the second link. I like the first one on the second link. The one with the purple ribbon is a little girly, but if it were to have the white ribbon it should be ok.

  3. i like the second one.

  4. the one with purple looks very girly to me I have two boys, and the victorian one is probably the one if you are going for the gown.

I got both boys a satin suit, they look similar to the gowns but they are suits, I can email you pictures but they are for baptism dedications, I wasn't about to do a suit or nice clothes either I wanted the white satin or cotton gown but I want them to look like boys.  each suit is very different, and very Catholic, which is the traditional gown, but my kids were 3-6 months before their baptism so the gown wasn't so cute.

  5. first one. i agree with your mother...eyelet is a little girly.

  6. I think ALL such gowns are too girly for a little boy's baptism.  Would you put him in a dress to take him out somewhere?  I'm assuming the answer there is a big no. :)

You want to go classy?  Get him some good looking nice clothes and dress him in that.  We did that for both of our kids dedications, and it was very tasteful.  Several people commented that they liked that we didn't put our son in some ridiculous lacy nightmare.  With our daughter, while we could have certainly gone that way, though it just seemed better dressing her in nice "normal" clothes.
