I am a sophomore now, and unfortunately had a limited number of electives this year. But in the next two years of high school, I'll have a lot more choices--nearly too many! I really want to study psychiatry in college, so I was wondering which of these classes in high school would best help me prepare for this. Thank you!

Psychology

Sociology

AP Biology

AP Chemistry

AP Physics

Anatomy

Nursing

Accounting

AP Statistics

AP Calculus

AP Calculus 2

Also I'm currently taking Spanish. Should I continue learning the language or is focusing on the other science classe more important?

  1. Psychology, Chemistry, and Sociology would both help prepare you. Spanish is very important...and remember people normally change their majors 3-4 times.

  2. I would guess Psychology or Sociology.

  3. I know 3 psychatrists - one is divorced and has a vendetta against men, another had a bad childhood and takes it out on her step-children, and the last one is secretly hiding the fact he is g*y.

So if you want to be a good psychatrist I suggest you see one yourself before you become one....lol (I'm not joking) - good luck!
